The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair, which revived the intellectual memory of Iraq, turned into a global center of attraction this year with the participation of a total of 28 countries, 17 of which were Arab and 11 were non-Arab. According to the statements of the Fair Organizing Committee President Abdul Wahab al-Radi, the event broke a record with the highest number of international participants in its history.
At the fair, where research and science institutions also actively participated; More than 600 publishing houses operating on a local, regional and international scale opened stands. Tens of thousands of newly printed works filling the fair corridors accelerate the integration of the Iraqi market with world literature and academic publishing.
"Iraq is Good, Baghdad is Good" Message and Cultural Awakening
Symbolizing Iraq's cultural renaissance after years of war and instability, the fair goes beyond being a pure commercial organization and conveys a very clear diplomatic message to the world: "Iraq is in a good situation and Baghdad is in a good situation." Al-Radi emphasizes that the intense interest shown by Iraqi book lovers to the stands proves the society's hunger for cultural development and universal knowledge.
Iraqi readers who want to follow local, Arab and international publications closely flock to the fair area to expand their knowledge. This liveliness in the visitor profile and high purchasing tendency show that the country's intellectual fabric is rapidly repaired and it has become an attractive market for the publishing industry.
The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair, which opened its doors on September 2 and is supported by numerous panels, interviews and cultural events, will continue to host its visitors with this historical organization until September 12.
